PHOTOGRAPHER JIM TWEEDIE OPENS FIRST EXHIBITION
OF LANDSCAPE AND NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY IN LA GRANGE
“Still Beauty,” an exploration of the stark beauty of nature, by photographer Jim Tweedie, opens Friday, September 22 with a reception from 6-9 pm at Wyckoff-Tweedie Photography + Fine Art Gallery in La Grange, Illinois.
“Still Beauty” is the photographer’s first solo show. It showcases 50 color and black and white photographs for sale of landscapes and nature captured by Tweedie nearby in the Morton Arboretum and other scenic locations across the United States. The show will close on Friday, October 20 before it moves to its next location in the Chicago area.
With each image, the artist captures the drama of his subject with sharp focus and intense detail. The striking realism of his photographs is further heightened by his advanced digital printing technique, which expresses the very essence of his subjects.
According to Tweedie, “My pictures are about capturing the soul of what I saw. While the subject matter has been diverse, the pictures are held together by the realistic portrayal of their true beauty or that moment when a subject presents its true self.”
During his 40-year career as a commercial photographer , Jim Tweedie has established a reputation as one of the finest portrait photographers in the country. Since 1982 this native Chicagoan has created award-winning portrait, corporate, and editorial photographs as well as an extensive body of fine art imagery.
Jim Tweedie has served as the official photographer for state and local political and community organizations and created portraits of President Ronald Reagan, former Illinois Governor James Thompson, and Chicago Mayors: Jane Burn, Harold Washington and Richard M. Daley.
Tweedie is an active member of the Fuji Elite Team, which consists of 10 master photographers, and Fuji’s Talent Team, a group of 100 photographers who make up an elite core of educators. He is also a national instructor and columnist for ShootSmarter University. Tweedie’s signature on-camera flash technique has become recognized in the industry as the lighting solution for digital photography.
